Scholarship Recipients Excel in Academics, Community Leadership
The Marialla V Magloire Foundation Scholarship in the Arts and Sciences marked its fourth year awarding two outstanding Leon High School Seniors each with $500 scholarships for their exemplarily performance both in the classroom and in their community. The awards ceremony was held at the Leon High School Auditorium on May 17, 2019.
Ms. Paris Creed King participated in several community activities including serving as president for Lion’s United, volunteering at the Special Olympics, and serving as chair for “the longest table”, an inclusiveness event for area high school seniors. She did this all while working as a kennel technician, and playing varsity golf and weightlifting. She has earned the prestigious honor of early acceptance into the Mississippi State Veterinary School of Medicine upon completion of her undergraduate studies.
Ms. Jamie Boykin also excelled in both academics and community involvement, and was a member of the Pierian, English and Science national honor societies as well as volunteered at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, St. Francis Wildlife Association, Animal Aid Spay and Neuter Clinic and Leon County Student Services. Ms. Boykin is also a musician and a member of the Leon High School steel drum band.
