The Beginning

The original idea of integrating mycology with a business incubator model led to the viable green business concept, Urban Biorefinery Vienna, which was selected by Impact Hub Vienna for the 2022 cohort - Wien Business Incubator.

Initial Attempts

This model's potential for both large-scale production and use sparked the idea that it could empower people to grow their own mushrooms for nutrition and upscale marketing. This could be particularly beneficial in impoverished areas, boosting monetary business ownership and addressing the needs of high-demand communities.

Nurturing the Concept

Using 500 square feet, two hydroponic tents, and initial supplies, the urban biorefinery model initially envisioned was now ready to be tested in target settings.

SMARTHub

By constructing the technical foundation of each SMARThub at cost, communities can take ownership of the means of production, providing entrepreneurial opportunities that enhance both health and the economy.
